DST Concept — Steering Wheel Design

A new take on the driver's interface

01Overview

As part of the development of the Mitsubishi DST Concept, we explored a new interpretation of the steering wheel as the centrepiece of the driving experience. The goal was to move away from conventional architectures and create a piece that conveys, from the first touch, the concept's values: presence, dynamism and technology.

A two-spoke architecture, cleaner and more horizontal, visually frees the lower part of the wheel and creates a more direct connection with the digital instrument cluster. Solid and precise in the hands, yet part of a lighter, more sophisticated and contemporary interior.
